Mohanlal apologises after visa issue forces cancellation of Sydney show: ‘Sad situation’

Malayalam film star Mohanlal issued an apology on Saturday for the cancellation of a Sydney stage show, citing an inability to obtain a visa. In a video message recorded from Singapore, the veteran actor expressed his deep disappointment over not being able to attend the event, which he described as a "sad situation." He refrained from blaming anyone for the circumstances that led to the cancellation.

Mohanlal, who has been in the Indian film industry for nearly 50 years, claimed to be one of the actors who has performed in the most shows globally. This year, he had already performed at shows in the US, Germany, the UK, and Ireland, having envisioned a successful Sydney show.

When asked about the reason behind not receiving a visa, Mohanlal remained vague, attributing the issue to potential technical, clerical, or AI-generated errors. He did not delve into further details about the nature of the problem.

Taking full responsibility for the situation, Mohanlal stated, "I am taking all the blame on myself. I am telling you that it is my fault. I am very sorry about it." He acknowledged the efforts of the event's organizers and his team, particularly Vimal from Kayal Events, for their hard work in making the event a possibility.

Addressing those who had traveled long distances to attend the show, Mohanlal expressed sincere regret, saying, "I apologize from the bottom of my heart to each one of you who drove from far away and came to watch this show." He promised that the team would return to Sydney and deliver another successful performance. "I promise that we will come back with the same team and do a wonderful show in front of you. I am so sorry," he concluded, repeatedly apologizing for the inconvenience caused.
