Minister urges protection of students after weapons found at school

Ghana's Education Minister, Haruna Iddrisu, has announced plans to elevate Apam Senior High School from a Category B status to Category A. This move is part of the government's initiatives to enhance the quality of secondary education and infrastructure in selected Senior High Schools nationwide. At a ceremony commemorating the school's 73rd anniversary, Mr Iddrisu detailed the school would receive a series of infrastructure and developmental upgrades under the Transformative Secondary Education for Access, Results and Relevance for Jobs (STARR-J) project.

The improvements will encompass infrastructure expansion, renovation, and the completion of unfinished GETFund projects to furnish the school with necessary facilities.

Additionally, the Minister outlined plans to equip Apam Senior High School with a school bus to address its transportation needs. These interventions are integral to the broader strategy of expanding and enhancing secondary education infrastructure, thereby improving learning conditions and creating more opportunities for students.

The STARR-J project is anticipated to contribute significantly to infrastructure development and improved educational outcomes, aligning with the government's commitment to providing requisite infrastructure and support for quality education.
