Law catches up with political worker who became headache for Kerala police

Former political worker and social media sensation Arjun Ayanki has been arrested by the Kerala police after a series of threats against law enforcement officers. The 29-year-old had amassed a significant following on social media, boasting about his exploits and posting pictures of himself in various poses. In May, Ayanki and his friends were arrested on charges of conspiring to commit a crime after being seen at a resort, though they claimed the trip was for a wedding.

Despite being released on bail in June, Ayanki quickly returned to his combative approach, threatening police officers on social media and cautioning the state Home Minister against attempting to intimidate him. Over the years, Ayanki had built a substantial following on social media, boasting about his exploits and posting pictures of himself in various poses.

His arrest comes after a long history of criminal activity, including a recent threat to a police inspector. ADGP P Vijayan warned that challenging the police is tantamount to challenging society, emphasizing the importance of rule of law in Kerala.
