In its first month, VB-G RAM G sees almost 50% year-on-year dip in rural jobs

In its inaugural month, the VB-G RAM G rural job guarantee programme witnessed a staggering 49.94% year-on-year decline in job creation, as per official statistics. The reduction stems from the government's shift from the long-standing MGNREGS to the newly initiated VB-G RAM G scheme, effective from July 1, 2026. Official data, as of August 9, reveals a mere 7.67 crore person-days of employment generated under VB-G RAM G, a significant drop of 49.94% compared to 15.33 crore person-days under MGNREGS in the same month last year.
