Indian woman sets Guinness World Record for longest hair on a living person

New Delhi - Renu Dhariyal, a woman from the northern Indian state of Uttarakhand, has been crowned by Guinness World Records for possessing the longest hair on a living person. Her hair stretches an impressive 271.5 centimetres (106.88 inches), exceeding the previous record held by Alia Nasyrova of Ukraine, whose hair measured 257.33 centimetres. This achievement leaves her mere 0.5 centimetres away from the record for the longest hair ever recorded on a man, which stands at 272 centimetres.

Dhariyal has been nurturing her hair since 2015, with no cuts during this period. In an interview, she revealed the profound cultural significance of long hair in India, where it is seen as a symbol of beauty, tradition, and identity. This cultural importance has motivated her to continue her hair growth journey for the past decade.
