‘He didn’t hesitate’: Vijay’s son Jason reveals how his father backed his directorial dream

Jason Sanjay, son of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay, is preparing to direct his first film, Sigma, starring Sundeep Kishan. Despite being an actor-turned-politician, Jason credits his father for his newfound passion for filmmaking. Speaking to Telugu anchor Suma on her YouTube channel, Jason revealed that his father Vijay provided him the freedom to explore his interests without any pressure.

Jason's father supported him wholeheartedly, even when he decided to pursue filmmaking overseas. He emphasized that his father's understanding of the industry allowed him to feel at ease with the profession. He recalled his father saying, “You go do the course, then only you will understand what you like, what is working for you, and whether you even like this profession.”

Though Jason had previously appeared as a child artist in Vijay's 2009 film Vettaikaaran, he now reflects on the unnecessary role he played in that movie. Looking back, he questions the need for his presence in the film as it had no connection to the storyline.

In addition to discussing his father's support, Jason also shared his relationship with his parents. He mentioned that his mother Sangeetha continues to treat him like a child, while always being his biggest cheerleader. His sister, on the other hand, he said, "We were like cat and mouse growing up, but after we grew up, we became closer. The long distance has strengthened our bond."
