Hawks seize 12 firearms in mining-related killings probe in Limpopo

The Hawks in Limpopo have apprehended 12 firearms from two security firms in Gauteng as part of an investigation into killings linked to a mining dispute. Eleven firearms were taken from a security company in Lanseria, while one was seized from a VIP protection company in Freedom Park. Two individuals, including a Gauteng police officer, were killed at a mining site in Ga-Mahlokwane village, near Burgersfort, last month.

The alleged perpetrators arrived in a convoy of vehicles. The Hawks have not made any arrests yet, according to spokesperson Avele Fumba. The seized firearms have been handed over to the Forensic Science Laboratory for ballistic testing, with the results to be evaluated alongside other evidence collected during the investigation.

Fumba stated that investigators are still following leads and conducting further inquiries to determine the details surrounding the incident.
