Government surveyors booked for alleged irregularities in processing survey documents

The Bengaluru police have apprehended three government surveyors – Shivashankar, Arun Kumar, and Manjunath – over alleged irregularities in the handling of 103 land survey applications at K.R. Puram ADLR office. The accusations against Manjunath were prompted by an internal department inquiry. The FIR reveals that the department received complaints about Manjunath, leading to a thorough investigation.

The probe began after the Deputy Director of Land Records mandated officials to gather information on grievances against surveyors and to identify cases uploaded without sketches by government and licensed surveyors in Bengaluru urban district over the past eight months. The report disclosed irregularities in the processing of applications, potential non-compliance with mandatory procedures, and possible involvement of multiple individuals.

It also indicated a possible loss to the government in the form of fees from the 103 cases, estimated at ₹77,075. The Bhoomi Monitoring Cell scrutinized the cases and raised concerns about similar irregularities potentially occurring in other districts, urging a comprehensive examination. The complainant has requested clarification on the roles of officials and operators involved in processing these applications. An FIR has been lodged at Halasur Gate Police Station.
