General : Anwar Visits Fadillah, Ismail Sabri Receiving Treatment At IJN

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim visited the offices of Deputy Prime Minister Fadillah Yusof and former Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob at the National Heart Institute (IJN) on Sunday. Fadillah is recovering from an emergency heart surgery the previous week, while Ismail was undergoing a procedure to install a cardiac pacemaker on Friday to address irregular heartbeat issues.

Anwar expressed that Fadillah's health is improving, but he still requires adequate rest as advised by the medical team. Ismail, on the other hand, continues to need ongoing monitoring at the IJN. The Prime Minister and his wife Wan Azizah Wani Ismail prayed for both to receive swift recovery, with all support for their medical care and strength to continue serving the people and the nation, in a Facebook post.

Ismail was admitted to the IJN on Thursday after experiencing heart issues while testifying before Malaysia's Anti-Corruption Agency investigation into the 2021-2022 Family Guidance initiative. The former Umno Deputy President had also been admitted to the IJN about two weeks earlier following a fainting episode, which was reportedly caused by a temporary cessation of heartbeat for about two seconds.

Ismail was allegedly summoned to appear in the Kuala Lumpur High Court on Friday, but the hearing was postponed due to his health condition.
