Four vehicles collide at Tech Junction-Top High as Ambulance attempts to navigate stationary traffic

On Sunday morning, a collision involving four vehicles unfolded at the Tech Junction-Top High intersection in the Oforikrom Municipality of the Ashanti Region, according to local reports. The incident occurred around 7:15 a.m. during heavy morning traffic. Eyewitnesses claim that the ambulance, with registration GV 554-24, was attempting to navigate through a congested intersection, despite being stuck at a red light.

The ambulance, with its siren activated, tried to pass through lanes of stationary vehicles, resulting in contact with two cars. These cars then collided with two additional vehicles ahead of them, totaling to four vehicles involved in the accident. One driver reported that the ambulance was rushing and tried to weave through the packed cars, pushing one into the others.

Another motorist noted that the traffic light was red and the road was blocked, making it impossible for the ambulance to pass. The ambulance driver, speaking off camera, explained that he was transporting a patient to the hospital in an emergency and needed to get through the traffic quickly. Emergency services responded to the scene, with the Adum Division of the Ghana Police Service and the Ghana National Fire Service arriving to manage the traffic, document the incident, and evaluate the damage.

No deaths or injuries were reported, and all four vehicles suffered damage to their bumpers and fenders. The crash led to a brief traffic jam along the Top High stretch as tow trucks worked to clear the vehicles.
