Driver, conductor killed in Kerala transport bus crash on Bengaluru-Mysuru Expressway

A tragic bus accident occurred on the Bengaluru-Mysuru Expressway in Bidadi, India, on Saturday morning, resulting in the deaths of a driver and a conductor from the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation. The incident occurred around 6:30 am when their Super Deluxe bus collided with a large overhead signboard. The driver, Mithilesh, and conductor, N M Arun, were attached to the Kozhikode depot of the transport corporation.

Initial police reports suggest that the bus veered off course, swerving to the left and crashing into the signboard, which displays real-time vehicle speeds.

Witnesses reported that the driver, Mithilesh, may have fallen asleep at the wheel before the collision. The bus transported passengers from Kozhikode to Bengaluru when the accident took place. After the crash, local residents and passersby immediately rushed to rescue the victims, extricating the injured staff and passengers from the wreckage before transporting them to a hospital in Bidadi. While Arun succumbed to his injuries at the scene, Mithilesh died later in the hospital.

The Bidadi police have registered a case and initiated an investigation into the cause of the accident. Preliminary findings indicate that driver fatigue might have been the primary factor in this fatal collision.
