College student fatally stabs Chinese man found in girlfriend’s room

A Thai college student is accused of fatally stabbing a Chinese man after discovering him in his girlfriend's room in Chon Buri. The incident occurred on August 8 at a room in Na Jomtien subdistrict, Sattahip district. The victim was identified as 20-year-old Cao Ke, who died at the scene, while the woman accused of the murder, age 21 and referred to as A (pseudonym), sustained injuries.

The woman explained that she worked at a hotel which Cao visited occasionally and that they had known each other for about two months. She stated that Cao arrived at her room around midnight, where the two talked before falling asleep. Her boyfriend, 20-year-old Thanachot, a college student in Chon Buri, returned from work in Pattaya the next morning and went to the room.

Upon entry, Thanachot and Cao initially spoke before an argument erupted into a physical altercation between the two men. Thanachot informed the police that he found a stranger inside his girlfriend's room, admitting he held a knife to intimidate Cao, but claimed that Cao attempted to grab the knife and attack him, resulting in a struggle.

The woman stated that she attempted to intervene, sustaining cuts to her body and being unable to separate the two men. Thanachot fled towards Pattaya after the incident, informing police upon his return that Cao had died, and he decided to surrender. Police were alerted to the stabbing at 7:10 am and found Cao dead inside the room.

The injured woman was also present at the scene. Thanachot was subsequently charged with intentional killing. Later that day, investigators took him back to the scene for further investigation, where he led officers to an overgrown area behind the accommodation where he claimed he had discarded the knife. Forensic officers excavated the area using a metal detector and recovered a curved folding knife with a pointed tip, which was subsequently analyzed for forensic examination. Police continue to interrogate witnesses, review CCTV footage, and gather additional evidence.
