Chinese embassy urges citizens in Thailand to follow local rules, respect Thai people

The Chinese Embassy in Bangkok has called upon Chinese citizens attending cultural events, sports matches and fan meetings in Thailand to adhere strictly to local laws and customs, and display respect towards Thai residents following a series of recent incidents. In a statement, the embassy highlighted the need for Chinese visitors to engage in events orderly, abide by venue rules, and show reverence for Thailand's religious beliefs, customs, and cultural heritage.

The embassy also encouraged Chinese participants to treat Thai individuals with respect, friendship, and tolerance, thus preserving the longstanding "Thailand-China family" friendship.

The embassy advised attendees to familiarize themselves with event rules beforehand, encompassing aspects like entry, photography, and prohibited items. Furthermore, the embassy urged Chinese citizens involved in disputes to maintain composure and seek resolution through official channels, including event organizers, staff, or local police, as opposed to taking matters into their own hands.

This advisory follows a series of incidents involving Chinese fans in Thailand, including breaches of safety regulations while following actors at Suvarnabhumi Airport and confrontations between Chinese fans and security personnel at an event involving Thai actors. The embassy stressed that Chinese citizens should approach activities in a "civilized, rational, and orderly" manner, foster friendly exchanges with Thai nationals, and contribute to strengthening bilateral ties between the two nations.
