Caught On CCTV: Son Pulls 75-Year-Old Mother By Hair, Drags Her On Road In Jabalpur; Video Sparks Outrage

Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh: A heart-wrenching video showing a man dragging his 75-year-old mother by her hair on the road has surfaced on social media, igniting outrage among locals. The incident, which occurred on Friday morning in Ashok Vihar Colony, Ward No. 78, Maharshi Valmiki Ward, under the Ranjhi police station's jurisdiction, was captured on CCTV and has since gone viral.

The footage reveals the elderly woman, identified as Mitra Vishwakarma, leaving her house at around 9:19 am. A minute later, she is seen running back towards her home in terror. Her son, Raju Vishwakarma, allegedly pursued her, caught her mid-street, grasped her by her hair, dragged her across the road, and inflicted several blows upon her.

Passersby observed the attack without intervening. Neighbors claim that Raju arrived home intoxicated and began assaulting his mother, subsequently dragging her outside and continuing the assault. When neighbors attempted to intervene, he reportedly mistreated them and threatened to harm them further. The victim's family has been repeatedly reported to the Ranjhi police station for his alleged alcohol consumption, harassment of others, and prior violent incidents, yet no substantial action has been taken.

Residents have vowed to present the CCTV evidence to authorities, demanding immediate medical attention for the elderly woman, preservation of the CCTV footage, and protection for the victim. The incident has left a cloud of anger and fear in the community, emphasizing the need for respect and care towards elderly individuals in their twilight years.

Ranjhi police station spokesperson, Umesh Golhani, confirmed that the police have been informed of the assault. A police team has been dispatched to the scene, and strict legal action will be pursued against Raju Vishwakarma in accordance with the law.
