Autorickshaw driver booked under POCSO, Atrocities Act for sexual assault on minor girl in Kalaburagi

An autorickshaw driver, Fayaz, 33, has been arrested under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, following an alleged sexual assault of a 16-year-old girl in Kalaburagi district. The victim, who works as a daily wage laborer, was allegedly abducted by Fayaz on August 5 while traveling in his autorickshaw.

According to the girl's mother, the accused called her and requested a meeting near the village gate, after which he drove her to Zaheerabad in Telangana. Once there, the minor insisted on returning home, but Fayaz allegedly threatened her with dire consequences and sexually assaulted her. The next day, he dropped her off near Konchavaram village and escaped.

The girl informed her relatives, who reported the incident to the police. The case has been registered under the relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), POCSO Act, and SC/ST Prevention of Atrocities Act. Authorities are searching for the accused.
