Australia's 999th Wallaby on his injury-riddled road to Test debut

Isaac Henry made his international rugby debut for the Wallabies on Saturday against Japan, becoming the 999th player to represent the team. The centre, 27, played just ten minutes in the 35-32 victory for Australia in Osaka, coming on as a substitute. Henry's path to the Test side has been lengthy, marred by a series of injuries.

These setbacks include a broken foot, hamstring tear, and two separate knee ligament and tendon ruptures over the past four years. Despite the adversity, Henry has managed six games for the Reds this season, a feat surpassing any other campaign since his 2021 Super Rugby debut. His resilience was tested further during the match, where he was named on the bench and only came on after more than an hour.

Henry, however, remained determined and defended strongly, contributing to Australia's win. The Queensland Reds player expressed his excitement for the opportunity, saying, "There were points along the way that I didn't think I'd get it done, but now I've got a taste and I'm hungry for it." He also mentioned his desire to continue testing himself at the next level, citing his love for rugby and the thrill of pushing his limits.
