Apple Rumored to Raise iPhone 17 Prices Soon

Apple is reportedly set to raise the prices of the iPhone 17 lineup in the near future, a move that has not occurred since the launch of the phones in September 2025. The information was obtained from technology leaker Fixed Focus Digital, who claimed Apple could announce the price hike as soon as Monday, August 10.

The company is planning to cut production of the current iPhone 17 lineup by 15 to 30 percent. However, the precise timing and extent of the price increase remain undisclosed. Unlike many other Apple products, the iPhone 17 has not seen a price increase so far.

This potential price hike is attributed to the rising costs of memory components, a necessity for artificial intelligence (AI) data centers. Moreover, Apple is facing a shortage of RAM for its upcoming iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and foldable iPhone models. To address this, Apple is reportedly reducing iPhone 17 production to allocate these components to the next-generation devices.

Analysts believe that the iPhone 18 Pro may start at around US$1,399 or more, significantly higher than the iPhone 17 Pro's initial price of US$1,099. The foldable iPhone, expected to be introduced this year, is also part of this strategy.

If the price increase occurs, it could help Apple maintain its profit margins and narrow the price gap with the upcoming iPhone lineup. Currently, the official price of the iPhone 17 at Apple Stores has not changed since its launch. In some retailers, the device is available for approximately US$725 to US$799, equivalent to Rp12.9 million to Rp14.2 million, depending on the configuration and the seller.
