23-yr-old design student raped by security guard on terrace of Ahmedabad apartment complex

A 23-year-old interior design student was allegedly raped by a security guard on the rooftop of an apartment complex in Ahmedabad on Saturday evening, according to police. The victim, who lived in a rented apartment with three other women, was taking an after-dinner walk on the terrace around 10:30 pm when the incident occurred.

The accused, Dharam Singh from Uttar Pradesh, allegedly restrained the woman by strapping a wire around her neck, causing her to collapse and fall unconscious. Singh is said to have raped her after she blacked out from the strangulation. Once aware of the crime, the victim raised an alarm, alerting others in the building. Police formed ten teams to investigate and eventually located the accused near Hebatpur in Thaltej.

The woman, currently pursuing a post-graduation degree, is being supported by the police in her recovery.
