2027: APC beats INEC deadline, uploads candidates

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has completed uploading its candidates for all elective positions in the 2027 general elections, exceeding the deadline set by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). The party's National Chairman, Prof Nentawe Yilwatda, announced the early completion on Sunday, highlighting the organization's readiness and preparedness for the elections.

INEC had initially set the deadline for August 8, 2026, but extended it by three days to August 11, 2026, following appeals from certain political parties. Yilwatda emphasized that the achievement demonstrates the APC's organizational strength, internal coordination, and readiness for governance. The process involved the nomination, documentation, verification, and electronic submission of thousands of candidates from all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

The rapid completion of the task gives the ruling party additional time to focus on other aspects of their preparations, such as campaign coordination, candidate engagement, grassroots mobilization, policy communication, and reconciliation within its structures.
