Zelensky: We work to ensure European funds directed on defense projects in Ukraine

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky spoke to media representatives in Belgrade, expressing gratitude for the EU's €90 billion in assistance. He emphasized this support as crucial for Ukraine's survival and highlighted that Ukraine's defense tools were more cost-effective than those produced elsewhere. Zelensky stressed the importance of effectively utilizing every euro, as Ukraine lacks the financial resources Russia has in the war.

He called for stronger sanctions against Russia to compel it to end the conflict, though he felt the 21 packages provided were insufficient. Zelensky underscored the priority of missile defense, noting that components used in Russian ballistic missiles were sourced from various countries, including close partners, and later used to attack Ukrainian civilians and soldiers.

He advocated for restrictions on Russia's energy sector, as the nation spends billions from it on the war. Investment in Ukrainian defense technology was reported at $105 million in 2025, primarily in unmanned systems and autonomous technologies.
