Saudi Arabia wins first place at 2026 International Nuclear Science Olympiad in Jeddah

Saudi Arabia emerged victorious from the third International Nuclear Science Olympiad (INSO 2026), held in Jeddah from August 2 to 9, 2026. The Kingdom claimed top honors, the Nuclear Science Ambassador title, and four global awards, including two gold medals, one silver, and one bronze. Saudi student Amjad Mahmoud Issa Al-Darwish claimed first place and a gold medal, also receiving the Nuclear Science Ambassador title for attaining the highest combined score in theoretical and practical exams.

Jana Saleh Abdullah Al-Subail secured a gold medal and the award for Best Female Student. Abdulaziz Abdulmohsen Al-Shurait won the silver medal, and Saleh Mubarak Dhaifallah Al-Harbi took home the bronze. Abdulaziz bin Saleh Al-Kraideis, Secretary-General of Mawhiba, attributed Saudi Arabia's success to the Kingdom's leadership support, investment in citizens, and development of their abilities.

He highlighted the strategic partnership with the Ministry of Education and collaboration with various national bodies, which played a vital role in preparing talented students for international competitions. Al-Kraideis praised the Kingdom's progress in the scientific and innovation ecosystem, commending its students' achievements and the effectiveness of national scientific team preparation programs.

The Olympiad, established by the International Atomic Energy Agency in 2024, brings together 120 students and scientific experts from 19 countries to enhance knowledge and skills in nuclear science and its peaceful applications.
