Razali denies leaving Bersatu to take over Terengganu Pejuang

Terengganu executive councillor Razali Idris has firmly denied leaving the Bersatu party to take over as the leader of the Pejuang party's state chapter. Despite resigning as the party's chief in Terengganu, Razali insists he remains a member of Bersatu. He has branded claims that he has joined Pejuang as defamatory.

The Kijal assemblyman has demanded that a Facebook user, Khairol Azfar, remove a post congratulating him on the alleged Pejuang appointment within a week. Otherwise, Razali threatens to initiate legal action against the Facebook account owner. Razali recently announced his resignation as the chairman of Terengganu Bersatu but did not disclose the reason behind his decision. He will also step down as the chief of Marang Bersatu in mid-September.

It appears that Razali only learned about the resignations of Telemong assemblyman Zawawi Ismail and Hulu Besut assemblyman Husaimi Hussin as Terengganu Bersatu information chief and treasurer respectively through media reports. Bersatu has been experiencing a series of resignations and has imposed sanctions on several leaders since the dismissal of former deputy president Hamzah Zainudin in February. Hamzah, who has since launched Wawasan, joined the Perikatan Nasional coalition with Pejuang in June.
