Peruntukan khas PM bukan untuk Ahli Parlimen, kata Fahmi

Fahmi Fadzil stated that the special allowance for the Prime Minister is not for the personal benefit of individual Members of Parliament, but rather for the benefit of the people residing in their respective areas. The Minister of Communications clarified that MyKHAS, as stated in the Malaysia Design Plan and budget, is a special allowance for the Prime Minister with a mechanism for its distribution.

"The allowance in question is the special allowance for the Prime Minister, so it is up to the Prime Minister how to distribute it," he told journalists after the Cyberjaya 2026 Internet World Convention at the Imbi Convention Centre. He also addressed whether different services should be provided to members of Parliament that do not align with the government, resulting in them not receiving the allowance.

On August 5th, Ampang MP Rodziah Ismail claimed that her constituency was blocked from accessing the MyKHAS system since July 29th, thereby limiting the distribution of allowances and community support. Rodziah said this action undermined management of district allowances to assist vulnerable groups, including the elderly, the disabled, chronically ill, and local institutions within the People's Assistance Project (PMR).

She noted she remains a member of PKR and the government-supporting block that advocates for the basic government unity, and has never opposed the party during her 28 years of service. Fahmi, in turn, stated that the special allowance for the Prime Minister is not for the personal interests of individual Members of Parliament, but rather to help the residents of each area.

He explained that the application for assistance is controlled by the Prime Minister's Department Implementation Coordination Unit with a mechanism also applied in opposition states to assist the people. Fahmi also provided examples of assistance distribution mechanisms in Petaling Jaya and Ampang. According to him, in Petaling Jaya the allowance is distributed through the regional PKR branch president and two MPs, while in Ampang it is controlled by the Prime Minister's political secretary.

"It is not a problem or issue because the money will continue to be sent to the people and will never occasionally go to a Member of Parliament," he said.
