National dialogue to shape Kenya’s next development era, says Cheptumo

Cabinet Secretary Hanna Wendot Cheptumo has commended President William Ruto's proposed National Conversation as a pivotal platform for Kenyans to influence the nation's development beyond Vision 2030. The dialogue arrives at a critical juncture, as Kenya contemplates the policies, institutions, and investments that will shape its future.

Cheptumo underscored that the initiative merits broad Kenyan support, as its outcomes will guide the country's development priorities for generations. She highlighted that the National Conversation emphasizes the importance of strong institutions, long-term planning, and intergenerational stewardship in achieving enduring national development.

Cheptumo emphasized that Kenya's development cannot depend solely on short-term measures, arguing that sustainable progress requires institutions and policies that deliver lasting results. She commended President Ruto's focus on leveraging existing strategic national initiatives such as the National Infrastructure Fund and the Sovereign Wealth Fund.

For the Ministry of Gender, Culture, and Children Services, Cheptumo stressed that the conversation should prioritize human capital development, gender equality, child protection, social inclusion, and the preservation of Kenya's cultural heritage. She affirmed that the process should enable Kenyans to envision the kind of country they aspire to build and the institutions necessary to uphold that vision.

President Ruto announced the proposed conversation during his recent Special National Address, stating that it aims to examine Kenya's long-term priorities and fortify the policy groundwork essential for sustained development across generations.
