Missing Law cut-off mark led me to my true calling – Babcock varsity first-class graduate

Christabel Ikegwuonu, a 21-year-old from Anambra State, shares her inspiring academic journey at Babcock University, where she graduated with a first-class degree in International Law and Diplomacy. Despite missing the cut-off mark for Law, Christabel embraced this alternative path, which ultimately led her to become the first in her family to achieve this milestone.

Growing up, Christabel was a curious child who loved learning and asking questions. In primary school, she excelled academically and received several awards, but her secondary school experience was different. She faced challenges in staying focused and lacked a clear sense of direction. However, Christabel credits her shift in mindset and self-belief for transforming her academic performance.

After initially applying for Law, she was offered International Law and Diplomacy, a course closely related to her interests. Encouraged by her father, she decided to give it a chance and pursued the degree with renewed determination. Improving her CGPA from 3.82 to 4.64 was a significant achievement that required discipline, consistency, and a change in mindset.

Christabel developed a reading routine, stayed attentive in class, and focused on understanding concepts rather than just preparing for exams. She remained consistent and leaned on her faith throughout the journey. Despite moments of self-doubt, Christabel persevered, driven by her passion for governance, diplomacy, and global affairs.
