Legal education will be modernised: Kerala Chief Minister

Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan announced plans to modernize legal education in Kerala, aiming to transform the state into a prominent hub for higher education. Speaking at a function to confer appointment orders to 35 Assistant Professors in government law colleges, Satheesan highlighted the introduction of new and innovative courses tailored to meet the evolving needs of the job market.

He emphasized prioritizing courses that would enhance employment opportunities for students while also fostering strong ties between educational institutions and the industrial sector. The Chief Minister specifically mentioned the integration of maritime law into legal education to capitalize on the opportunities stemming from the development of a unified port city.

He underscored the critical role of educators, urging the newly appointed professors to serve as exemplary figures for students and society at large. The function was presided over by Minister for Higher Education Roji M. John, with Higher Education Principal Secretary B. Ashok in attendance.
