Kerala Headload Workers’ Act will be modernised, says Bindhu

Minister for Labour Bindhu Krishna announced that the Kerala Headload Workers’ Act, 1978, will undergo modernisation following a study of contemporary conditions. She made this statement after inaugurating a headload workers’ meeting organized by the Headload and Loading Workers’ Congress. The minister revealed that steps would be taken to revise wages for loading and unloading work, which have remained unchanged for years.

Krishna emphasized that the State government bears the responsibility of improving conditions within the loading and unloading sector in the State. V.R. Prathapan, the president of the Headload and Loading Workers’ Congress, presided over the meeting, while A.K. Hafeez, the president of the Headload Workers’ Federation and Mayor of Kollam Corporation, delivered the keynote address.
