‘Honey-trapped’ IAF officer held for allegedly sharing classified defence data

An Indian Air Force officer has been apprehended for allegedly leaking classified defense data, according to officials. The suspect, identified as a Wing Commander, reportedly fell prey to a Pakistani intelligence honey trap through social media channels, sources revealed. The officer was under surveillance by the IAF's intelligence wing before his arrest and subsequent transfer to law enforcement agencies, who have booked him under the Official Secrets Act for sharing confidential information and installing data-stealing software on a colleague's mobile phone, sources added.

The arrest followed intelligence inputs provided by the IAF to the Delhi Police, and further investigation into the case is currently underway. This incident underscores ongoing concerns over Pakistani intelligence operatives attempting to target Indian personnel and civilians using social media honey traps. Last year, an Alwar resident named Mangat Singh was arrested for allegedly spying for Pakistan's intelligence agency ISI after being honey-trapped by a female handler on social media for over two years.
