Gachagua spells out development agenda for Kajiado if opposition wins 2027 poll

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua laid out a comprehensive development plan for Kajiado during a public engagement in the county on August 8, 2026, as he seeks to bolster his political support among the Maa community ahead of the 2027 General Election. In his speech, Gachagua emphasized key priorities such as education, infrastructure, livestock support, and security if his political team gains the opportunity to form the next government.

Gachagua vowed to establish a boarding school for girls in each of Kajiado’s 25 wards, aiming to enhance educational opportunities for young girls throughout the county. The former deputy president also highlighted his commitment to improving infrastructure, particularly in growing urban centers like Kiserian, Ngong, and Rongai. He promised to enhance road networks and expand water and sewerage systems to elevate living conditions across various towns in the county.

Furthermore, Gachagua announced plans to support livestock farmers by constructing a slaughterhouse in Bisil and establishing a leather factory. These initiatives aim to create a ready market for livestock and encourage value addition in the region. Gachagua also sought to deepen his relationship with the Maa community by pledging to involve them more closely in national security structures.

He acknowledged the community's contributions to the Kenya Defence Forces and National Police Service, emphasizing the importance of their participation in rebuilding the government. "I rely heavily on the Maa community in security matters because both the Kenya Defence Forces and the National Police Service are fully capable. We aspire to work together with the government," Gachagua stated.
