Chennai has the potential to attract GCCs as an industrial hub: expert

N. Venkat, a Senior Vice President at K. Raheja Corporation, believes Chennai has the potential to become an attractive industrial hub for global capability centers (GCCs). This city, already home to numerous Fortune 500 companies on the Radial Road corridor, is well-positioned to attract businesses seeking commercial space outside their home countries.

Venkat, who has witnessed the development of Tidel Park, highlighted that Chennai has grown both in residential and commercial areas, offering an increasing number of amenities. The expectations of office-space tenants are high, and the need for last-mile connectivity has become crucial for the growing working population. Venkat also stated that the Raheja Group, despite their involvement in policy initiatives in Hyderabad, would be excited to expand into Chennai.

However, he pointed out that the expanding working population is unwilling to commute for one or one-and-a-half hours to reach their workplace. The Real Estate and Infrastructure Summit 2026, which featured Venkat's insights, is organized by Casagrand in collaboration with Adissia Developers and supported by several industry partners.
