Adeleke Commends Monarch Residents On Osun-Osogbo Festival

Yesterday, the renowned Osun-Osogbo Festival took place, drawing over 500,000 attendees from around the globe. This annual two-week celebration of culture, spirituality, and heritage, held in Osogbo, South West Nigeria, was embraced by both inhabitants and those living abroad. In his address on the event, Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, praised Oba Jimoh Olanipekun Oyetunji, Larooye II, Ataoja of Osogbo, and all Osogbo citizens, both at home and in the diaspora, for their role in the festival's success.

The governor deemed the Osun-Osogbo Festival a priceless cultural and spiritual inheritance, symbolizing centuries of history and faith, and a testament to Yoruba civilization. He highlighted the significance of the sacred procession led by the Arugba, the royal presence of the Ataoja, traditional rites at the Osun Sacred Grove, prayers, chants, and cultural displays, all of which embody their culture and heritage.

Governor Adeleke lauded the monarch, the Ataoja, the Osun Priestess (Iya Osun), traditional institutions, devotees, cultural custodians, and the entire people of Osogbo for upholding the festival that continues to attract global visitors, researchers, and tourists. He expressed heartfelt felicitations on behalf of the government and people of Osun State, wishing the monarch and the people enduring peace, prosperity, and progress.

The governor pledged his administration's commitment to preserving Osun's rich cultural heritage and safeguarding the Osun Sacred Grove as a globally cherished heritage site, promising ongoing support for initiatives that promote tourism, cultural diplomacy, and economic opportunities for the people.
