Ukrainian Railways changes routes amid worsening security situation

Ukrainian Railways has made alterations to train routes and implemented bus transfers and passenger connections due to the deteriorating security situation in Dnipropetrovsk and Kharkiv regions, as well as along the Zaporizhzhya direction. The company announced these changes on Telegram on August 7.

Bus transfers are available on the Kryvyi Rih-Dnipro, Piatykhatky-Dnipro, and Lozova-Orilka routes. Travelers heading to Kamianske-Pasazhyrske, Verkhovtseve, Vilnohirsk, and Verkhnodniprovsk on trains 32 Przemysl-Zaporizhzhya, 86 Lviv-Dnipro, 286 Lviv-Dnipro, 42 Truskavets-Dnipro, and 40 Solotvyno-Zaporizhzhya can continue their journeys from Dnipro via suburban electric trains without purchasing new tickets. Their current travel documents will still be valid for boarding at no extra cost.

To expedite the restoration of the regular timetable, some westbound trains with significant delays will temporarily stop in Ternopil or Lviv, where passengers can transfer to connecting services. This change will impact trains 41/42 Dnipro-Truskavets, 87/88 Dnipro-Kovel, and 83/84 Dnipro-Mukachevo. Additional delays are anticipated for trains 285/286 Dnipro-Lviv, 3/4 Dnipro-Uzhhorod, 85/86 Dnipro-Lviv, 119/120 Dnipro-Chelm, and 120/119 Chelm-Dnipro.

Passengers with tickets for altered routes or schedules will be permitted to use any other train through the end of August 8. They will receive personalized notifications about specific services through the company's app. Ukrainian Railways also advised travelers to follow station and onboard announcements, arrive early, and adhere to safety requirements.

Since July 25, passenger trains have been unable to travel directly to Zaporizhzhya due to continuous Russian attacks and deteriorating security, stopping instead on the approaches to the city. On July 24, a passenger train in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast was targeted by a Russian drone hitting its locomotive.
