Telangana CM seeks 11.56 lakh PMAY-G houses, expansion of VB G RAM G works

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy met Union Agriculture and Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, to request the allocation of 11.56 lakh houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Gramin) 2.0. Reddy highlighted that rural housing construction had been neglected during the previous Bharatiya Janata Party (BRS) government's rule and emphasized the need for increased support from the central government to meet the housing demands of rural families.

He also urged the Union Minister to broaden the scope of works under the Viksit Bharat – Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) scheme, considering the challenges posed by El Nino weather conditions. Reddy proposed adding 10 more works to enhance livelihoods and boost rural incomes, including vegetable trellis development, fodder plots, mulberry gardens, and silkworm-rearing sheds.

Additionally, he sought opportunities for farmland development, water conservation, and restoration of agricultural lands affected by natural disasters. The Chief Minister requested the central government to incorporate works related to the State government's Indiramma housing program in the VB G RAM G scheme's permissible activities, ensuring beneficiaries receive employment for up to 90 days.

Reddy called on Chouhan to provide the required approvals and support for these initiatives, stating that they would bolster rural infrastructure, improve livelihoods, and offer additional employment opportunities in Telangana's villages.
