Spain insists 2030 World Cup Final ‘belongs’ on home soil despite Morocco push

Spain has reaffirmed its determination to host the 2030 FIFA World Cup final, maintaining that it is the strongest candidate despite speculation that Morocco may have already secured the match. Spanish Sports Minister Milagros Tolón stated that Spain and Portugal led the bid for the 2030 World Cup, which Morocco later joined. The Spanish government has been working with FIFA, which has denied reports suggesting an agreement for Morocco to host the final.

FIFA has emphasized that no decision has been made regarding the venue for the 2030 final. Spain and Portugal are set to jointly host the centenary World Cup in 2030, with Morocco planning to build the largest football stadium in the world in Casablanca. Both Spain and Morocco are investing heavily in their bids, with Spain relying on its prestigious venues like Santiago Bernabéu and Camp Nou.

Morocco's King Hassan II Stadium is expected to have a capacity of around 115,000, while Spain's venues will have capacities of about 83,000 and 105,000 respectively. The competition for the final has become more public, with Spanish Football Federation president Rafael Louzán arguing that Spain's experience in staging major sporting events gives it an advantage.

Morocco is reportedly campaigning in the background to secure the final for Casablanca, with the potential impact on African football's image.
