Platter lands follow-on funding from Verb Ventures to modernise food supply operations

UK-based Platter, a food-native operating system for suppliers, wholesalers, and manufacturers, has secured additional funding from Verb Ventures to enhance its platform. The UK hosts around 25,000 food and beverage manufacturers, most of which are small businesses like cheesemakers, bakeries, sauce producers, and drinks brands. These companies, while modest individually, collectively contribute significantly to the supply chain, often relying on outdated spreadsheets to manage various aspects of their operations.

Platter aims to modernize this sector by providing a comprehensive back office solution tailored to the UK food trade's unique needs. The platform consists of three interconnected layers: orders and sales, operations, and finance and invoicing. These layers enable digital ordering, buyer-specific price list management, delivery planning, stock and production visibility, warehouse connections, and seamless integration with accounting software like Sage and Xero.

Platter also offers embedded invoice factoring, allowing suppliers to receive payments more quickly.

Since its launch in mid-2025, Platter has onboarded over 30 customers, with each processing between £3 and £10 million in annual trade through the platform. The company is on track to process well over £100 million in annual trade, with zero customer churn since its launch. Alexey Bulygin, a Principal at Verb Ventures, explained that the firm invests in operational layers that support trade, particularly in industries that lack proper software solutions.

Platter's focus on the food industry represents a system-of-record business that Verb believes will create significant switching costs and provide a strong foundation for future expansion into payments and embedded services.
