Pemohon Teksi Madani boleh guna kenderaan selain Proton S70

The National Madani Taxi Modernization Program, launched by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim on July 3, now allows taxi drivers to lease or switch vehicles outside the Proton S70 model, ending the traditional licensing system in the industry. The Public Transportation Agency for Land (Apad) announced this extension today, stating it was provided to assist applicants who already own vehicles or have difficulty securing financing for a new purchase.

This exception applies despite the Malaysian Transport Ministry's April 23 directive allowing new or replacement taxi applications voluntarily and solely through the purchase of a Proton S70 model package offered under the program.

Taxi drivers are encouraged to switch to Madani Taxis to take advantage of various incentives. However, for those already owning vehicles or unable to secure loan approval under the Madani Taxis program, they remain allowed to lease or switch vehicles other than the Proton S70 model, according to the statement. Existing taxis that are not replaced under the program can continue operating until the vehicle's lifespan reaches its predetermined end date.

Madani Taxis, launched by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim on July 3, permits taxi drivers to become legal vehicle owners, ending the practice of traditional licensing in the industry. As part of the transformation program, the Proton S70 sedan was chosen as the new flagship model, featuring a more modern image without badges on the roof and using a series of unique registration numbers starting with the letter 'GET'.

The Prime Minister also announced an additional budget of RM10 million for the Replacement Vehicle Switch Program, specifically benefiting taxi drivers, derived from the RM10 million aid allocation in the 2026 Budget for the successful implementation of Madani Taxis.
