Norway’s soccer federation calls on Gianni Infantino to resign over failed World Cup plan

FIFA president Gianni Infantino is under intense pressure to resign following Norway's soccer federation's demand that he step down immediately. This comes after a meeting where Norwegian federation president Lise Klaveness expressed the decision to ask Infantino to resign due to the erosion of trust. The controversy stems from Infantino's failed plan to sell World Cup profits through a commercial subsidiary called the FIFA Forward Enterprise (FFE).

UEFA, Europe's governing body, has also threatened to boycott FIFA competitions, indicating a loss of confidence in Infantino's leadership. Despite Infantino's apparent support from FIFA officials during a recent summit, UEFA's stance and Norway's direct call for his resignation highlight the significant anger from Europe. The English Football Association has also withdrawn its support for Infantino's re-election next March, contributing to the mounting pressure on FIFA's embattled president.
