Norway’s FA president Klaveness calls on Fifa boss Infantino to resign

Norwegian Football Federation president Lise Klaveness has urged Fifa president Gianni Infantino to resign, citing his loss of confidence among the football community. Klaveness, a prominent critic of Infantino, dismissed speculation about her potential candidacy for the Fifa presidency. The NFF chief expressed concerns over the state of international football cooperation, emphasizing the need for stability during these turbulent times.

The dispute stems from Fifa's aborted plan to sell a portion of the World Cup's commercial rights, leading to a standoff between governing bodies. Klaveness highlighted a series of issues the Norwegian FA has raised with Fifa, including tournament selections, the controversial Fifa peace prize awarded to former US President Donald Trump, and the lifting of a ban on American forward Folarin Balogun during the recent World Cup.

Despite her name being mentioned as a possible successor to Infantino, Klaveness firmly rejected the idea, stating that the matter is not being considered and that she has no intention of running for the position.
