India vs Sri Lanka: Rain threat looms large over IND vs SL three-day warm-up match in Colombo

The forecast predicts a high temperature of around 30°C and high humidity levels of 78%, coupled with 99% cloud cover that will limit visibility to approximately 5 km. The rain is anticipated to continue into the afternoon with a 70% chance of additional rainfall, with another 4.9 mm expected. Strong winds and thick cloud cover are also forecasted, which could further complicate the conditions for the players.

The warm-up match holds considerable importance for India as it prepares for the Test series against Sri Lanka. Indian batters, particularly those who struggled against Sri Lanka's spin attack in recent home Test series against New Zealand and South Africa, will aim to refine their technique and adapt to the conditions by facing Sri Lankan spin in match conditions.

Shubman Gill, KL Rahul, and Yashasvi Jaiswal have already practiced against spin before traveling to Colombo, but a genuine test awaits them on Sri Lankan pitches.

The bowling attack, led by Mohammed Siraj in the absence of injured Jasprit Bumrah, will also need to familiarize themselves with the local conditions.
