How $1 million Zayed Sustainability Prize allowed one father’s mission to have a global impact

A Brazilian entrepreneur, Ronaldo Cohin, received a $1 million prize from the Zayed Sustainability Prize for his AI-powered platform catering to neurodivergent children. This funding propelled Jade, his company, to expand its reach across five countries, benefiting over 4,000 children and launching projects in underserved communities.

The AI-powered game, created by Jade, aids in early detection and personalized intervention for conditions like autism and ADHD. Six months after winning, Cohin shared that the prize enabled Jade to invest in new educational content, recruit technology specialists, and introduce the platform to children lacking digital learning tools.

For example, in Kenya, a neurodivergent child named Mansour, who previously showed little interest in educational technology, now enthusiastically engages with the app, as reported by Cohin. Since January, Jade has partnered with 50 new schools and rehabilitation centers in Brazil, Portugal, the UK, and the UAE, reaching around 4,000 more children.

The expansion has also led to a shift in teaching methods, encouraging personalized learning and increased family involvement. In Abu Dhabi, 14 centers are set to adopt the platform this month. The investment has been used to hire staff, enhance the product, and support social impact projects in communities with limited digital infrastructure, such as those in Kenya.

Cohin emphasized that the prize was more than a professional accolade; it was a responsibility to deliver lasting impact. He stressed that awards create opportunities, but it is consistent effort that leads to meaningful change.
