High winds and rain to hit parts of UAE over the weekend

The UAE is bracing for unsettled weather over the weekend, as the National Centre of Meteorology predicts rain and strong winds in various regions. A low-pressure system originating from the east will initially impact the southern and eastern parts of the country, followed by a westward movement by the system over the weekend. This will bring the potential for rain and gusty winds reaching up to 50kph.

By Sunday, inland areas should anticipate some rain, with the wind persisting at its strength and likely stirring up dust, which could lead to reduced visibility. These conditions are projected to persist into Monday before the wind subsides and the skies clear on Tuesday. During this period, temperatures in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Al Ain are expected to hover around 47°C and 48°C, whereas Fujairah will be notably cooler at approximately 40°C.

Additionally, the UAE has announced a public and private sector holiday to commemorate Prophet Mohammed's birthday. The UAE has also imposed fines and disconnected 9,400 numbers in a crackdown on cold-calling violations.
