‘Do I look like someone who can be bullied?’ – Agalga dismisses doubts over possible Majority Leader role

Builsa North legislator James Agalga has dismissed concerns that he might be intimidated as a potential Majority Leader. He emphasized his extensive parliamentary experience as proof of his readiness to lead the House's proceedings. The MP highlighted his roles as a Ranking Member, Committee Chairman, and long-serving legislator, asserting that these positions have equipped him with the necessary leadership skills.

His comments followed remarks by former Defence Minister and Minority Leader Dominic Nitiwul who questioned Agalga's leadership credentials. Nitiwul noted that Agalga, while among the longest-serving MPs, had not previously held a top leadership position. In response, Agalga expressed confidence that his performance would ultimately be how Ghanaians judge his leadership, asking rhetorically, "Do I look like someone who can be bullied?"

He dismissed suggestions that he lacks leadership experience, citing his eight years as ranking member and current chairmanship of the Defence and Interior Committee as evidence. Agalga further pointed out that his long tenure has earned him respect from his colleagues, dismissing the notion that he could be bullied. He maintained that the true measure of his leadership would only be evident once Parliament resumes sitting and his stewardship is tested.
