Deion Sanders Wants to Play Another Colorado School in the Spring

Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders has suggested a new initiative that could bring the team closer to playing another Colorado school in the spring. Currently, the NCAA does not allow scrimmages between teams from different conferences, but they do permit joint practices within the lower division FCS. Sanders, who has been an advocate for such practices, believes that a scrimmage against an opponent closer to home than Syracuse, like the Air Force Falcons, could be a viable option if the NCAA approves it.

He explained that the FBS division, which includes the Buffaloes, currently does not allow such games, but smaller practices would suffice. While joint practices would be a step in the right direction, Sanders expressed his desire for full-scale intrasquad spring games between two teams. He envisioned these games as beneficial for the state, the cities, and the sport of college football.

Sanders led his team through a week of training camp in Fountain Fort Carson High School, about 113 miles south of Folsom Field, which included visits to the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs campus and the U.S. Air Force Academy. The coach emphasized that this location was chosen to ensure the team's safety and focus, emphasizing the importance of getting to know each other without external distractions.
