Okpebholo had criticized Adeleke's leadership style, suggesting that his dancing distracted him from governance duties.

Davido, a vocal supporter of Adeleke's re-election campaign, posted the results on his Instagram Stories without adding a caption, and the post was quickly understood as a reaction to Okpebholo's comments. The incident occurred one day after Okpebholo had mocked Adeleke for his love of dancing during an All Progressives Congress governorship candidate rally.
