The Bui Power Authority (BPA) reported a net profit of US$66.2 million for the 2025 financial year, driven by enhanced energy generation and the growth of its renewable energy capacity. The Authority expanded its installed Solar Photovoltaic (PV) capacity from 55MWp to 105MWp in 2025, complementing its 404MW hydropower capacity. Hydropower continues to be the primary source of generation at 97% of the total energy produced. Progress was also made in feasibility studies for proposed hydropower projects along the Tano, Pra, and Ankobra rivers.
Infrastructure projects to support future expansion advanced, with the Staff Accommodation Project at the Bui Generating Station at 97% completion and the Yendi Solar PV Project at 75%.

Looking to the future, BPA aims to boost its operationalised solar capacity to approximately 205MWp by adding 100MWp of Solar PV capacity. BPA also plans to develop 300MWp of dispatchable Solar PV Plants with Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) by the end of 2028, aligning with Ghana's Green Transition agenda. Ing. Sam emphasized BPA's commitment to innovation, operational efficiency, financial sustainability, and delivering long-term value to stakeholders as they strive towards these goals.
