BBC to broadcast Alexis Ohanian co-founded all-female athletics series Athlos

The BBC will air an all-female athletics series founded by Alexis Ohanian, co-founder of Reddit, next month when it heads to London. The event, called Athlos, will take place at Saracens' Stone X Stadium in September, featuring athletes such as Keely Hodgkinson, Sha'Carri Richardson, Gabby Thomas, and Georgia Hunter Bell. The meet, which is part of a series funded by Seven Seven Six, a venture capital firm managed by Ohanian, has received support from Richardson, Thomas, and Tara Davis-Woodhall.

Kayla Green, Athlos' acting president, stated that the BBC is the ideal partner to introduce Athlos to British fans, as it is where the UK falls in love with athletics. The BBC's coverage of Athlos will follow the European Athletics Championships, which will be held in Birmingham for the first time in the UK next week. Athlos originated in New York and has now expanded to London, marking the first time the organization has left the American East Coast.

Speaking about the global expansion, Green emphasized that the best of women's track and field will be showcased on the world's biggest platforms. Ohanian, 43, has various investments in female-focused sports, including a 10% stake in Chelsea Women's Super League club and a significant investment in US team Angel City before its acquisition by Disney's Bob Iger and others.

He has also expressed interest in Chelsea Women becoming the first football club to be valued at $1 billion. Additionally, Ohanian owns a TGL golf team and a League One Volleyball side.
