Zeus Wallet taken offline after cyberattack, says no customer funds at risk

Zeus Wallet, a self-custodial Bitcoin Lightning Network wallet, disabled its infrastructure following a cybersecurity incident on Wednesday. In a statement, the company said no customer funds were lost and no vulnerability was found in the Lightning node software. Evan Kaloudis, the founder of Zeus, confirmed that the attack was limited to the company's own infrastructure and that it had been mitigated within hours.

Customers whose Lightning Service Provider (LSP) channels were closed during the incident will receive replacement channels once services are restored. The company has not disclosed the nature of the attack or provided a timeline for resuming operations. This incident comes after Zeus announced the disabling of swaps following the halt of operations by Boltz, a non-custodial Bitcoin swap service.

Zeus has since emphasized its commitment to enhancing its infrastructure through trusted execution environments and the Validating Lightning Signer (VLS) project. Cointelegraph attempted to obtain more details about the incident but has not received a response from Zeus by the time of publication.
