Zelensky orders preparation of “special sanctions operation” against Russia

Ukrainian President Zelensky has ordered the preparation of a "special sanctions operation" against Russia, according to Ukrinform. Speaking on Facebook, Zelensky emphasized the importance of not allowing Russia sufficient time to adapt to the restrictions imposed. He noted that Russian missiles, drones and other weapons contain critical components from other countries, making them dependent on external sources.

Zelensky stressed the need for increased pressure on Russia, limiting its ties with the global community. He instructed officials to develop a detailed plan for a targeted sanctions operation aimed at significantly restricting the Russian military-industrial complex. Specific companies in identified areas were singled out for action, with each participant in the meeting given clear tasks. Zelensky stressed that full implementation of this plan is expected.

In addition, Ukrainian officials also discussed plans for Ukraine's ballistic missile program and the implementation of the "Freyja" anti-ballistic missile project. Zelensky expressed optimism that results could be seen as early as 2026-2027.
