WAFCON: Super Falcons beat Egypt to reach quarter finals

The Nigerian Super Falcons secured their place in the quarterfinals of the Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) 2026 tournament in Morocco after defeating Egypt 6-2. The victory came following four penalty kicks awarded to Nigeria, with VAR reviews leading to the decisions. Asisat Oshoala opened the scoring for Nigeria, followed by goals from Gift Monday, Uchenna Kanu, Christy Ucheibe, Raheedat Ajibade, and Joy Omewa.

Nadine Ghazi scored both goals for Egypt. Nigeria's path to the quarterfinals was secured in the final group match after they came into the game needing a win to progress. Egypt managed to get back into the game in extra time, scoring through Nadine Ghazi, but the Super Falcons sealed their victory with three more goals. Two penalties were scored and converted by Ucheibe and Ajibade, with Ghazi adding another goal. Joy Omewa scored Nigeria's sixth goal late in the game to ensure a decisive victory.

The Super Falcons finish Group C with six points from three matches, placing them second behind Malawi, who topped the group based on head-to-head results.
