Vivas before the Eurochamber: “The security of Ceuta is in the hands of a third party, Morocco, which does not recognize our sovereignty”

The President of the autonomous city of Ceuta, Juan Jesús Vivas, made it clear this Thursday in the European Parliament that, for him, what happened on 30 and 31 July “is not a migratory crisis of the usual kind”. “It is an episode through which our integrity has been put at risk: that of Ceuta, that of Spain, that of Europe. Our security is in the hands of a third country, Morocco, which does not recognise our sovereignty”, the veteran leader pointed out in an extraordinary session of the European Parliament's Committee on Home Affairs, which met by videoconference. In that forum, the Ceuta leader also highlighted that the city has still not returned to normal and that it needs reinforcements to resolve, among other things, “the collapse of the migrant reception centres”.
